Columbus Family Law Attorney

We are a Columbus, Ohio law firm. Our practice is limited to divorce, dissolution, and other family relations law (domestic relations) matters. The members of our firm are highly knowledgeable and experienced in family law.

Firm Members

Our firm has three members, Douglas B. Dougherty, James A. Hanneman, and Robert H. Snedaker III. Each member is an Ohio State Bar Association “Certified Specialist in Family Relations Law.” Our members have greater than 65 years of total combined legal experience. Each member has written and lectured on various family law topics for lawyers and non-lawyers and has served two-year terms as Chairman of the Columbus Bar Association’s Family Law Committee.

Firm Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple. “The client is the boss.” We understand that we work for the client and that the client is the decision maker. Our job is to help solve our clients’ problems.

To do this, we use a two step approach. First, we educate our clients regarding their various legal options. This includes a discussion regarding the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Second, after the client determines which option is best, we work hard to implement the client’s decision.

Practice Areas – Courts and Appeals

Our law firm handles cases throughout the State of Ohio. However, most of our work is concentrated in central Ohio with a predominance in Franklin, Delaware, and Union counties. We regularly represent clients in various Courts of Appeals and in the Ohio Supreme Court. We also represent clients in cases involving Child Support Enforcement Agencies throughout the State of Ohio.

Practice Areas – Premarital Planning

Marriage creates a new set of rights and duties between spouses. Unfortunately, the legal system does nothing to inform individuals about those new rights and duties. Further, approximately one-half of all marriages end in divorce. To help our clients with these issues, we provide premarital planning services. When appropriate, we advise our clients regarding the use of premarital (prenuptial) agreements.
